The university has approx. 10,000 students and approx. 120 studies in technical-natural sciences, social sciences and humanities.
The focus on welfare technology is particularly strong within the Department of Health Sciences and the Research Center for IP-based Service Innovation (CIPSI). UiS has a large international network that the arena project will be able to draw on.
Precubator TTO is UiS's tool for capturing research ideas that can be developed and used in society and business. Ipark AS runs an incubator business, which is a start-up aid for newly established companies.
UiS is located in the most attractive region in the country with 300,000 inhabitants. The region has a dynamic labor market and exciting cultural and leisure activities. The sample between UiS and working life is diverse and diverse.
The academic activities at UiS are organized in three faculties with 14 departments and 2 national competence centers in addition to the Archaeological Museum. UiS Pluss is the university's unit for continuing and further education.
Many of the externally funded research activities take place in collaboration with our research institute, the International Research Institute of Stavanger (IRIS). There are also several centers for research that are linked in superstructures between UiS and IRIS and other actors.
