SESAM was created to strengthen regional collaboration, research and professional development, networking and teaching in the field of geriatrics.

SESAM was established by Helse Vest in 2010 to strengthen collaboration, research and professional development, network building and teaching in the field of geriatric medicine. Elderly medicine includes physical, mental and social conditions that can occur in connection with acute illness, in the treatment of chronic disorders, rehabilitation and at the end of life.

An overriding goal for SESAM is to develop good communication models, to coordinate the knowledge and expertise that is already available in the various health trusts and to develop and disseminate new knowledge so that it benefits the individual elderly in Health Region West as much as possible
