Our first programme in Singapore, the "NORDIC HEALTH 4.0 - The AMPLIFIED Nurse" rides on Singapore Ministry of Health funding to support the hospitals and specialty centres to improve nursing productivity. In the 2 years of fighting COVID-19, our nurses have made tremendous sacrifices, at a heavy personal cost: pulling long shifts, day after day, week after week, since the start of the pandemic; returning to work on rest days to cover for colleagues who caught the virus; putting up with all the safety measures at the hospitals; risking exposure as they cared for infected patients. We all agree that nurses are invaluable in the hospitals. The role of nurses has been significantly amplified due to COVID-19. With or without COVID-19 pandemic, we have been facing a critical shortage of nurses that threatens the ability of the health care system to function. I believe due the added nursing workload, manpower shortage and added health risk, there has been an exodus of the nursing workforce. What can we do to augment the nurses in their work and help direct valuable time on value-added services? This programme will investigate solutions and systems to help our nurses in their work. Using technology to augment the nursing manpower and skillsets.
