SAFER is a learning center established by Stavanger University Hospital.
Stavanger Acute Medicine Foundation for Education and Research www.safer.net is an independent foundation - a learning center / simulation center established by Stavanger University Hospital, the University of Stavanger and Laerdal Medical AS.
SAFER wants to be a contributor in strengthening and stimulating local, national and international networks.
The purpose of the center is to strengthen training and patient safety for health professionals, primarily by stimulating competence development and exchange through the use of medical simulation as a learning tool.
In 2012, SAFER had 8,000 course days for nurses, doctors, ambulance personnel, nursing students, medical students, offshore nurses and doctors. The center also conducts practical research in patient safety, implementation of simulation as a learning method, use of simulation to implement welfare technology solutions for the municipal health service, etc.
