Har du eller noen nær deg diabetes? Da vet du at det kan føles overveldende. Vi er her for å hjelpe deg

Diabetes is much more than blood glucose and insulin.

Recent research has highlighted the value of thinking holistically about diabetes, and how mental and emotional barriers can affect treatment. The philosophy behind DiaMind is that diabetes care is incomplete without including the psychological and mental challenges.

Medical treatment is important, but it's only half the equation. The other half is about the person with diabetes. It's about creating space in your head, and room in your life, for things other than the disease. And that is precisely why DiaMind exists.

Lise Løvereide is the founder of DiaMind and has a background as a nurse. She has type 1 diabetes herself. In 2023, DiaMind received funding from the Dam Foundation (Stiftelsen Dam) to develop a new concept for comprehensive follow-up of diabetes ("More than blood sugar and insulin", project number SDAM_UTV452401). The aim was to create a solution that can help patients beyond the follow-up they receive in the health service. Many people feel alone and it can be a demanding disease to manage alone. Even with good developments in technological aids, there are many who do not reach treatment goals, or who experience diabetes-related stress that can affect both treatment and quality of life.

We have put together an interdisciplinary group of healthcare professionals who contribute to the development of various programs to help people with diabetes become more resilient in the management of diabetes. We have also included a user panel, and many of the professionals involved have diabetes themselves. We use recognized methods, exercises and techniques aimed at building emotional resilience, acceptance and mental robustness through mental training and knowledge, and which can support change processes. In addition, we offer various learning paths on topics such as diet, physical activity, stress management, mental health and mental training. These are adapted to the individual's needs through the digital solution we use.

DiaMind now consists of a team of nurses with a master's degree in mental health, a diabetes nurse and a sports educator, in addition to an advisory panel. We work with health promotion, coping and prevention, and do not offer medical treatment.
